Lost Medal
Come and experience this summer of changes with the loveable Stedman girls. Serious older sister Nichole must come to terms with her bitterness against her absentee father who has been gone for over a year as well as find a way to help her over-worked mother Debbie survive the struggle of raising two girls by herself. Fun-loving and less careful younger sister Rebecca often unintentionally finds herself in a bind when her sister isn’t around to look out for her. Although very different, Nichole and Rebecca find common ground through their shared love of riding their regal Icelandic horses Lysa and Tina. They also bond through their desire to help their mother, and they think of creative ideas to help her with a difficult project at her job with an architecture and design firm.
Finally, things seem to be looking up for the struggling Stedman family. Nichole wins a medal in the horseback riding competition at the State Fair, but it is wrenched from her hands by a stickler judge who claims that Nichole’s medal was won fraudulently.
To top it all off, Nichole and Rebecca’s father, Allan, makes reappearance in their lives after a year of silence. What does he really want, and can Debbie and the girls ever forgive him? Find out in this unforgettable novel about the joys and struggles of growing up by budding novelist Karen Jean Matsko Hood. Retail Returns
Standard Policy
Our books are returnable. If a title isn’t moving in your market, we want to get it back before a new edition makes it obsolete. Thank you for giving it a chance on your valuable shelf space. Our return period is normally between 90 days and one year of the publisher’s invoice date. However, we will accept the book for return after one year, as long as the edition is still in print. To keep our products current, we update our titles every one-half to two years.
Return permission must be requested, so that we may issue detailed packing and shipping instructions. A credit memo will be issued towards future purchases. Industry tells us that it now costs more than eight dollars to write a letter. Correspondence, packaging, and postage cost us all a great deal in money and time. Years ago when postage was cheap, it made sense to return slow-moving books. Today, however, many bookstores are finding it is more cost effective to mark down the books and move them out.
Returns must be accompanied by your packing slip listing the quantity, title, author, original invoice number and invoice date. Books returned with this information will be credited 100% of the invoice price, minus shipping; otherwise, it will be assumed the original discount was 40%. Some books have been returned to us when they should have been returned to our distributor Books should be returned to their source.
Notice of shortage or non-receipt must be made within 30 days of the shipping/invoice date for domestic shipments, 60 days for foreign shipments. Books damaged in transit are not the responsibility of the publisher. Please make claims to the shipping company.
Return Shipping and Handling
To qualify for a refund, returned books must arrive in good, resalable condition; if not resalable, please don’t bother to return them. If books are in good condition, but you are not willing to package them properly for the return trip, please don’t waste your time and postage. To package the books so that they will survive the trip, we suggest that you wrap them in the same wrap you received when they were sent to you. There are two important steps in successful book packaging: Keep them clean and immobilize them. Place the stacked books in a plastic bag. This will separate the dirty newsprint and greasy Styrofoam peanuts or discs from the book edges and prevent grit from creeping between pages. To keep the books from shifting (which causes scuffing), cut a shipping size and stuff it tightly with packing material. Since it has been our experience that books shipped loose in oversize “jiffy bags” always arrive scuffed, it is now our policy to refuse them at the post office so they will be returned to the sender. Do not use Jiffy bags! Please ship books via parcel post (book rate) prepaid to: Whispering Pine Press, Inc. PO Box 1469, Spokane Valley, WA 99037-1469 USA
